First Rank, Second Rank

I choose the title for a few reasons, and by sharing these you will come away with an understanding of what I’m trying to accomplish here.
Many people will read the title and think of different things. Someone might think of the order issued by an Imperial Guard officer. Others may think of ranks of tightly packed infantry giving a bonus to combat resolution. Yet others still may think of the ranks of models lying before them that need to be painted. Some may think of rankings in a tournament, or the power level of an army. Others may think of military ranks how convert your officers so that they might stand out among the masses of miniatures. Yet one thing they all have in common is they are related to the hobbies we play and in that way the title of the blog is all encompassing for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer 40,000, Warmachine, Hordes, Flames of War, the list goes on and on. One thing that unites us is the niche that we fill. That and we are hopelessly addicted!

I personally would call myself a hobbyist. I’ve been mastering my craft for over 12 years. I love the painting and modeling aspect of these games, more so than even playing. However, I still have a competitive streak in me and love a great game. Whether or not you’re a WAAC gamer, a competitive gamer, or a fluff bunny, I want you to be able to take something from my blog. I will be sharing modeling tips, tricks, and hobby ideas to help all types when it comes to painting and converting. I think communication between all factions, as well as an understanding will lead to a better hobby overall.

My mission is to blur the lines of the stereotypes (of gamers vs hobbyists) as well as to eliminate the ranks of grey and crappy “get you by” conversions. I want to be able to give the competitive gamer who doesn’t enjoy painting easier ways to get through the process so at the end of the day he has an army that plays as well as it looks. At the same time I will be writing articles for advanced hobbyists who want to push their craft a bit further. So if there is anything you would like to see me write about please drop me a line! All requests are welcome. Thanks for stopping by! I hoped you enjoy the stay!
