Hey guys, finished my first Grey Knight squad last night.

This was quite a fun squad to paint actually. At first I was a bit nervous because I've never used metallics through an airbrush and was quite worried that it wouldn't work too well. After working with Boltgun Metal for about 5 minutes my worries were absolved and I knew this project would be a lot easier than I anticipated. I sprayed the entire models with Boltgun Metal, followed by Chainmail from just above to give that directional highlight.

Once that was try I took Boltgun Metal, and mixed some black into it in a 1:2 ratio Boltgun to black. I then went and black lined the model anywhere I thought needed it. I used Badab Black on the servo joints and was quite happy with the way the metal looked. I then used Skorne Red and Devlan for all the red areas. The gold was simply Shinning Gold with a GW Flesh Wash over the top.

The force swords were by far the hardest part for me to figure out. At first I used my normal blue scheme, but felt that it was a bit too chaulky and looked a lot like 2nd edition power swords. While I'm all for nostalgia I wanted to have a look that was more unique for my force weapons. I started with Necron Abyss and worked my way up through Hawk Turquoise and finally finished it off with a 1:1 mix of Hawk and Marrow White. I was super pleased with the results and repeated the process on the eyes of marine to get the glow.

In the end I was quite happy with the results. Here is the squad in all it's glory.
